Saratoga Harness Racing Inc., which last year acquired an ownership interest in Ellis Park in western Kentucky, said Jan. 29 it has completed its purchase of Fitzgeralds Casino Black Hawk in Colorado.
The property previously was owned by The Majestic Star Casino. SHRI paid $28 million for the gaming establishment, which will be renamed Saratoga Casino-Blackhawk, the company said.
SHRI owns Saratoga Casino and Raceway in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. It became a partner in Ellis Park when the track was seeking financing to construct a parlor for historical race wagering, which began in late August 2012.
Saratoga Casino and Raceway has video lottery terminals and electronic table games. Live harness racing is held from early March through early December.
