Cold weather continues to plague West Virginia, where Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races has announced it is canceling its its Jan. 26 night card, the third consecutive program the track has lost.
Officials said the weather forecast for the evening races was for more frigid temperatures.
The decision regarding Saturday comes on the heels of Charles Town’s cancellation of the full card the night before, as well as its Thursday night card, which was stopped after two races.
The Thursday evening cancellation was a result of a vote by the Charles Town jockey colony that didn't leave enough riders to continue with the live program. With similar weather on the horizon for Saturday night, the determination was made to call off live racing. Action is te resume Tuesday, Jan. 29.
Post time for the first race on Charles Town’s Tuesday card is 7:15 p.m. EST.
Charles Town will remain open for simulcasting Jan. 26.
