Legislation that would allow Indiana racetrack casinos to add table games advanced through a state Senate committee Jan. 23.

The Indianapolis Star reports that the Indiana Senate Public Policy Committee unanimously approved the bill, which would allow Hoosier Park and Indiana Downs to add table games such as blackjack and roulette. Both tracks currently offer slot machines.

The legislation also will allow Indiana riverboat casinos to move onto land and reduce taxes on all state casinos. Citing the casinos being added in Ohio, Hoosier Park President Jim Brown told the committee that the changes are needed to compete.

"Now it's really Indiana against the world," Brown said.

The Senate Appropriations Committee will next consider the bill.
