The National Thoroughbred Racing Association announced Jan. 22 that SimplexGrinnell has become a safety partner with NTRA Advantage, the NTRA's group purchasing program.

As part of the partnership, SimplexGrinnell will offer discounts on its wide array of fire, life-safety, and property protection products and services to NTRA-member tracks, farms, organizations, and individual members in Kentucky.

"With its longstanding reputation as one of the top fire and life-safety companies in the United States and Canada, SimplexGrinnell is an important resource for our members who rely on NTRA Advantage to deliver quality, competitively priced products for their farm and track operations," said NTRA Advantage senior vice president Bryan Pettigrew in a press release. "Sometime after the initial launch in Kentucky in 2013, we hope to roll out the SimplexGrinnell program nationally."

"SimplexGrinnell is delighted to partner with the NTRA," said Jim Madson, vice president of sales at SimplexGrinnell. "The high premium the Thoroughbred industry places on safety aligns with our focus as a Tyco business on advancing safety and security by finding smarter ways to save, improve businesses, and protect where people live and work. We are confident that horse professionals throughout Kentucky will find our wide array of life-safety products and services very attractive. We look forward to working together to provide them with cost-effective solutions."
