Fasig-Tipton has catalogued 329 horses for its select sale of 2-year-olds in training that will be conducted at Calder Race Course on Feb. 26. The total is up by 8.2% from a year ago, when 304 horses were catalogued.

In 2001, 136 horses were sold at the auction for a gross of $28,186,000, an average price of $207,250, and a median price of $150,000. All represented declines from 2000, but the sale attracted the largest group of buyers of any major juvenile auction last year. It also produced one of the two juveniles sold for seven-figure prices in 2001, a Seattle Slew--Chic Shrine colt that was later named Rosetti. Irish veterinarian Demi O'Byrne paid $1 million for Rosetti, who was consigned by M. W. Miller III, agent.
