Kentucky Oaks (gr. I) winner Believe You Can took a step toward her 4-year-old racing debut Jan. 18 when she breezed five furlongs in 1:00 flat on a fast track at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots, earning the bullet for the distance.

The workout was fastest of 25 moves at the distance Friday. Trainer Larry Jones is pointing the Proud Citizen   filly toward a start in the $100,000 Tiffany Lass Stakes Feb. 2 at Fair Grounds.

"I was pleased with the work because it was easy for her to do," said trainer Larry Jones of the first move this year for the Brereton Jones homebred. "That's just the way she is. Actually, I had to back off on her for a while there (the filly hadn't worked previously since Dec. 21) because she was coming around too quickly for this race we have planned for her. Now, we'll probably give her one more blowout and that will be it before the Tiffany Lass."

Believe You Can is a finalist for a 2012 Eclipse Award as the nation's champion 3-year-old filly. Last year Believe You Can, out of the El Prado mare El Fasto, won a pair of races at Fair Grounds, the Silverbulletday Stakes and the Fair Grounds Oaks (gr. II), before taking the Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs. She has not raced since finishing third in the June 23 Mother Goose Stakes (gr. I) at Belmont Park.
