A chestnut filly born Jan. 8 at Jacob Nance's I.R. Bloodstock at Dearborn Farm near Midway, Ky. is the first reported foal for new stallion Giant Oak , a two-time grade I winner.
Bred by Mike Abraham, the filly is out of the Ghazi mare Silent Emotion, a stakes winner of $209,993 and dam of grade I-placed multiple stakes winner Unspoken Word.
Bred and owned by the Virginia H. Tarra Trust, Giant Oak won two grade I events on dirt, the 2010 Clark Handicap at Churchill Downs and the 2011 Donn Handicap at Gulfstream Park. Now standing his second season at Millennium Farms for a fee of $7,500, Giant Oak bred 83 mares in his first year at stud.
