First Foal by Paddy O'Prado is a Colt

The first reported foal by Paddy O'Prado   is a chestnut colt born Jan. 13 at B. Wayne Hughes' Spendthrift Farm near Lexington. A grade I winner, Paddy O' Prado stands at Spendthrift.

The newborn colt is out of the young Argentine group I winner True Passion (by Orpen) and was bred by Spendthrift Farm.

"He's an athletic foal with a lot of substance," said Ned Toffey, Spendthrift general manager. "It's a great start for Paddy O'Prado as a sire."

Paddy O'Prado (El PradoFun House, by Prized) scored his biggest win in the Secretariat Stakes (gr. IT). His other stakes efforts included a third-place finish in the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I).

Paddy O'Prado's 2013 fee is $15,000.
