Oaklawn Park has canceled live race cards for Jan. 12 and 13 due to unsafe track conditions caused by heavy rains in Hot Springs, Ark.
According to a statement, a day-long downpour caused several places in the track to wash out, and the track crew will take Jan. 13 and the beginning of the following week to make necessary repairs.
Live racing returns at Oaklawn Jan. 17 with a 1:30 p.m. CST first post. The ensuing five days of racing include a special holiday card Jan. 21, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, with the $150,000 Smarty Jones Stakes for 3-year-olds kicking off the oval's sophomore prep season for the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I).
