Modeled after other states that have state-bred days, Florida will run six races at Calder Race Course near Miami on Nov. 16, 2002. The program will be called Florida-Bred Cup Day.

The timing is good for those who might go on to the first NTRA Great State Challenge at Sam Houston Race Park on Dec. 7, 2002.

Florida-Bred Cup Day will feature $150,000 seven-furlong races for 2-year-olds and 2-year-olds fillies; a $150,000 race for 3-year-olds and up at six furlongs; a $150,000 race for 3-year-olds and up at nine furlongs on turf; a $200,000 distaff at 8 1/2 furlongs; and a $200,000 classic at nine furlongs.
