Ten Most Wanted, winner of the 2003 Travers Stakes (gr. I), died Jan. 8 at British Mist Breeding Station in Panama, according to Daily Racing Form.

Prior to being relocated to Panama in late 2012, 13-year-old Ten Most Wanted stood at Rich and Gaby Sulpizio's Magali Farms near Santa Ynez, Calif.

The Travers had the makings of huge race. Funny Cide, that year's Kentucky Derby (gr. I) and Preakness Stakes (gr. I) winner, and Belmont Stakes (gr. I) winner Empire Maker also were entered in the 1 1/4-mile Midsummer Derby, along with other graded winners Peace Rules, Strong Hope  , Sky Mesa  , and  Wild and Wicked  . But the race lost some its luster when Funny Cide and Empire Maker were scratched.

Trained by Wally Dollase for Horizon Stable and partners and ridden by Pat Day, Ten Most Wanted scored by 4 1/2 lengths over Peace Rules, with Strong Hope finishing third. Ten Most Wanted's sire, Deputy Commander, had won the race in 1997.

During his career, Ten Most Wanted also won the Illinois Derby (gr. II) and the Super Derby (gr. II), both at 3, and the National Jockey Club Handicap (gr. I) at 4. His ran second in the Belmont and the Swaps Stakes (gr. II) and was third in the El Camino Real Derby (gr. III). Trained by Wallace Dollase, he was retired with a record of 5-3-1 from 13 starts and earnings of $1,718,460.

Prior to standing at Magali, Ten Most Wanted stood at Gainesway Farm in Kentucky and at Sequel Stallions New York in the Empire State. He has sired multiple stakes winners Lady On the Run and Tenth Power and five stakes-placed runners. His progeny earnings have surpassed the $3.2 million mark.

Bred in Kentucky by James Plemmons, Ten Most Wanted was produced from the Criminal Type mare Wanted Again.
