No Surprise Here: Adena Leading Breeder

For the 10th consecutive year, Frank Stronach's Adena Springs was the leading individual breeder in North America in 2012 with earnings of $11,615,141, according to statistics released by The Jockey Club Information Systems Inc.
Last year, Adena Springs bred the winners of 386 races from 2,946 starts and was followed by Brereton C. Jones, who bred the winners of 230 races from 1,675 starts for earnings of $7,961,894.
Adena Springs also finished on top of a second breeder list that includes partnerships. Including partnerships, Adena Springs bred the winners of 428 races from 3,292 starts for earnings of $12,553,534. Jones, who with partnerships bred the winners of 254 races from 1,881 starts, was also runner-up in this category with earnings of $8,789,249.
Rounding out the list of top 10 individual breeders were Darley, $7,526,855 (96 wins/523 starts); Kenneth L. Ramsey & Sarah K. Ramsey, $6,898,567 (255/1,874); WinStar Farm, $5,477,280 (157/972); Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings, $5,070,233 (119/631); Eugene Melnyk, $4,887,475 (176/1,316); Janis R. Whitham, $3,834,443 (16/107); Diamond A Racing Corp., $3,323,637 (84/412); and Sam-Son Farm, $3,221,557 (51/351).
Completing the list of top 10 breeders including partnerships were Darley, $8,460,884 (130 wins/747 starts); Kenneth L. Ramsey & Sarah K. Ramsey, $6,919,067 (256/1,877); WinStar Farm, $6,040,675 (173/1,078); Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings, $5,093,872 (120/638); Eugene Melnyk, $4,887,475 (176/1,316); Liberation Farm, $4,694,337 (211/1,543); W. S. Farish, $4,613,841 (170/1,270); and Janis R. Whitham, $3,883,627 (17/116).
