The first foal by European champion Dubai Millennium arrived Jan. 13 at Hilary Boone Jr.'s Wimbledon Farm near Lexington. The chestnut colt, whom a farm employee said was a "nice, big fellow weighing 131 pounds," is owned by Sheikh Mohammed. The latter campaigned homebred Dubai Millennium (by Seeking the Gold).
The colt is the third foal from the stakes-winning Night Shift mare Zelanda. Her other foals are a 2-year-old Seeking the Gold colt and a yearling Gone West filly. Zelanda is booked to Gone West.
Dubai Millennium, who was euthanized last April in the middle of his first breeding season because of equine grass sickness, covered 82 mares. Wimbledon is home to three others, each owned by Sheikh Mohammed. One of them, stakes winner Nijinsky's Lover, is the dam of U.S. graded stakes winners Dance Master and Naninja. She was due Jan. 13. The other two are Crimson Conquest, dam of English, Irish, and German champion miler Crimplene, and English group II winner Bahr.
