Gitchee Goomie, a grade III-winning daughter of City Zip , was the first horse to bring six figures at the Keeneland January horses of all ages sale when she brought a final bid of $250,000 from Frank Stronach's Adena Springs.
The 6-year-old mare was consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent, for Patsy Symons, who has raced Gitchee Goomie in all her starts. Gitchee Goomie, who scored her big victory in the 2012 Dr. James Penny Memorial Handicap (gr. IIIT) at Parx Racing, won four other restricted stakes on the New York circuit.
She has placed in seven other black-type events, including the Garden City (gr. IT) and the Beaugay (gr. IIIT) twice. In all, the bay mare holds a record of 7-9-2 from 22 starts, for earnings of $680,520.
Bred in New York by Barry Ostranger and sold as a racing or broodmare prospect, Gitchee Goomie is out of the stakes-placed Brief Ruckus mare Riotous Miss and is a half sister to $175,000-plus earner Miss Rapture (by Gulch).
