Embur's Song, the Canadian champion who was expected to attract strong buyer attention at the Keeneland January horses of all ages sale, has been withdrawn from the Lexington auction that runs from Jan. 7-11.
Tom Thornbury, Keeneland's associate director of sales, said the 6-year-old daughter of Unbridled's Song was withdrawn because she had undergone colic surgery two weeks ago.
In foal to top sire Giant's Causeway , Embur's Song had been consigned by Lane's End Farm as part of the 80-horse consignment from the dispersal of Fares Farm.
Produced from stakes-placed Embur Sunshine, Embur's Song won a Sovereign Award as top older mare in Canada at age 4 after winning two grade III stakes at Woodbine and setting a track record in the Hilliard Lyons Doubledogdare Stakes (gr. III) at Keeneland.
