Oaklawn Park and KARZ 42 in Little Rock, Ark., have announced the launch of "Oaklawn Today," a new television program for the 2013 racing season.
"Oaklawn Today" will be hosted and produced by Rolly Hoyt with full replays and race calls by track announcer Frank Mirahmadi. Former Oaklawn track announcer Terry Wallace will also contribute to the program that will also include insights, analysis, and other information. Hoyt Communications will serve as the sales agent for the show.
"Oaklawn Today" takes the place of the "Oaklawn Report." Gary Weir, its longtime host, has retired.
The 30-minute show will air every race day at 11 p.m. (CST). It will also air at 9 p.m. on Resort Cable Channel 5 in Hot Springs. Ark., with a rebroadcast the following day at 9 a.m. In addition, the shows will be archived on www.ArkansasMatters.com.
"Oaklawn is one of the premiere destinations for people across Arkansas and a top tourist attraction for the state," said Mike Vaugh, vice president and general manager for KARK, KARZ, and Arkansasmatters.com. "This show is a great opportunity to give racing fans unique insight and coverage they won't be able to get anywhere else."
"The excitement for horseracing—particularly Oaklawn racing—in Arkansas is something I'm truly proud to be a part of," said Hoyt, a veteran of the racing and sports television with credits at ESPN, NBC Sports, and other major racetracks. "The racing here is major league and we will treat it that way on this show."
Oaklawn's 56-day 2013 live race meet begins Jan. 11 and runs through April 13.
