Stonestreet Acquires Florida Facility

Barbara Banke's Stonestreet operation announced it has acquired the 220-acre property near Ocala, Fla., that was the Florida breaking, training, and rehabilitation facility for Dr. Tom Simon's Vinery operation.

According to a release, the facility will be re-named the Stonestreet Training and Rehabilitation Center. The purchase price was not disclosed and there were no details about any changes in personnel or the property.

"Vinery with its team of skilled and seasoned horse professionals created a world class training and rehabilitation facility," Banke said in a statement. "We are pleased to incorporate it into our breeding and training operation."

According to Vinery's website, the Florida property includes a seven-furlong main dirt track and a three-quarter mile turf track, both with wide banked turns. Additional amenities include outdoor round pens for turnout, three covered European free walkers, numerous well maintained turnout pastures, and one of only two AquaCiser facilities in the United States, according to the website.

Simon announced in August that he would sell Vinery's U.S. operations. The Florida facility is the only Vinery property being purchased by Stonestreet, according to the release.

Stonestreet, among the leading breeders in North America each year, is comprised of approximately 90 broodmares and 18 stallion interests, producing 70 foals each year.
