Into Mischief's Fee Increased to $10,000

B. Wayne Hughes' Spendthrift Farm has announced a raise in stud fee for its leading freshman sire Into Mischief  , who will now stand for $10,000 stands and nurses during the 2013 breeding season.

"Into Mischief is having a terrific year with his first crop of 2-year-olds, and the demand from breeders has been overwhelming," said Ned Toffey, general manager of Spendthrift.

Into Mischief currently ranks second in the North American first-crop sire standings and has already sired three juvenile stakes winners from limited starters, including a pair of graded stakes horses. By 2012 leading juvenile sire Harlan's Holiday, Into Mischief is one of two grade I-winning juveniles out of his dam Leslie's Lady, who also produced 2012 Grey Goose Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I) champion Beholder.

Into Mischief's 2-year-old colt Goldencents   marked his first stakes winner in a big way by winning the $1 million Delta Downs Jackpot Stakes (gr. III) last month. Sittin At the Bar, Into Mischief's other graded stakes performer, captured the $100,000 Louisiana Champions Day Lassie by a resounding eight lengths Dec. 8. After breaking her maiden first time out by 7 3/4 lengths in August, Sittin At the Bar was third in the Delta Downs Princess Stakes (gr. III) prior to her Fair Grounds stakes win.

Into Mischief picked up his third stakes winner to date in a 5 3/4-length romp in the Traskwood Stakes at Aqueduct Racetrack by undefeated 2-year-old Vyjack. Also a winner first-time out last month at Aqueduct, Vyjack's dominating win in the Traskwood earned him a 96 Beyer in just his second career start.

Into Mischief's three stakes winners comes from 21 two-year-old starters to date, giving him a crop-leading 14.3% stakes winners from runners. His progeny earnings of $1,087,849 gives him $51,802 average earnings per runner from his first 2-year-olds.
