Brothers Lynn and Drew Alexander plan to open a temporary simulcast racing facility Dec. 14 in Amarillo, Texas.

The Saddle Brook Jockey Club will be operated by Corey Johnsen's Magellan Gaming company. It will offer simulcast wagering and dining in a sports bar experience.

The simulcast outlet is owned by Saddle Brook Park, which owns a Texas Racing Commission license to operate a horse racing facility in Amarillo and has been awarded live dates in 2014. Drew Alexander said wagering at the simulcast operation will help build purses for the new track.

"We will be generating a substantial amount of purse money that will help horse racing in Texas," Drew Alexander said. "Bigger purses attract better horses and better horses will bring out more fans."
