Ramon Dominguez and David Jacobson continued their strong 2012 seasons by respectively winning the Aqueduct Racetrack fall meet jockey and trainer titles.
Dominguez, who celebrated his 36th birthday by capturing the Cigar Mile (gr. I), Gazelle Stakes (gr. I), and Remsen Stakes (gr. II) Nov. 24, won 32 races during the fall meet. The two-time defending Eclipse Award winner for Outstanding Jockey finished with an eight-win advantage over second-place rider Jose Ortiz despite missing the final two weeks of the meet with a bruised foot. Cornelio Velasquez was third with 22 wins.
Earlier in 2012, Dominguez took the Aqueduct inner track, Belmont Park spring/summer, Saratoga Race Course, and Belmont fall meet titles. He has already sewn up the top spot in NYRA's jockey standings for the fourth straight year and has garnered 20 NYRA meet titles in his career.
Jacobson held off Rudy Rodriguez 19-18 to earn his fifth career training title. The 58-year-old also took this year's inner track title and shared the Belmont fall crown with Chad Brown. Todd Pletcher took third with 14 wins during the Aqueduct fall meet.
Drawing Away Stable, one of Jacobson's clients, was the leading owner with 11 victories. Michael Dubb (8 wins) was second and Repole Stable (7) was third.
Racing moves to the inner track on Dec. 12.
