Tom Law, former managing editor at Thoroughbred Times, has been named to the new title of managing editor for ST Publishing and will oversee a new Saratoga Springs, N.Y. office for that company.
Based at Fair Hill, Md., ST Publishing is owned and operated by Joe and Sean Clancy. The company publishes The Saratoga Special and Steeplechase Times newspapers, and the Thoroughbred Racing Calendar. It is involved in other equine publishing ventures including work with the regional monthly magazine Mid-Atlantic Thoroughbred.
ST Publishing announced Law will also handle the marketing and sales efforts for the company when it creates a new office in Saratoga in 2013.
"Tom brings us something we've needed for a long time—an experienced person to work on editorial projects," said Joe Clancy. "He can help us produce more editorial products and improve those we currently produce, while allowing us to work on other goals for the company."
Law began his career with The Saratogian in Saratoga Springs and was associated with Thoroughbred Times from 1998 until it was closed by owner Norman Ridker earlier this year after filing for bankruptcy.
Law, who served as president of the National Turf Writers And Broadcasters from 2006 to 2012, was co-producer of Thoroughbred Times' 2011 Breeders' Cup multimedia package that won the Eclipse Award.
