The Ocala Breeders' Sales Company will restrict the use of certain medications in the 2002 2-year-old sales. Clenbuterol may not be used within 72 hours of the under tack show and the use of procaine penicillin and furosemide (Lasix/Salix) will not be permitted.
"OBS continues to fine tune its policies for the comfort and confidence of our buyers. By making these adjustments, the guideline for the use of Clenbuterol will be consistent with common racing practices and within the framework of existing laws for horse sales within the State of Florida," said Tom Ventura, OBS general manager. "The National Association of Two-Year-Old Consignors (NATC) also feels strongly that we must be proactive in addressing the medication issue and fully supports our decision."
