Central Kentucky native Daniel "Chip" Bach has been named general manager of Turfway Park.

Bach, who has held leadership positions at the Florence, Ky. track for more than a decade, has served as director of operations since 2006. The appointment coincides with the Nov. 29 opening of Turfway Park's 37th holiday meet.

"Turfway and the Kentucky horseracing industry have undergone significant change over the past decade," said Kevin Kline, of Turfway's owners Caesars Entertainment and Horseshoe Cincinnati, in a release. "Chip's industry experience, strong leadership, operational expertise, and dedication to customer service make him an excellent candidate to navigate and grow Turfway's future."

Bach joined Turfway in 1999 as director of human resources and safety, where he developed and implemented the track's continuous improvement customer service program. In this role he also developed the equine industry standard protocol for communications and response to high-risk infectious diseases.

In 2006 Bach was named director of operations and assumed oversight of all day-to-day track activities including racing, mutuels, admissions, facility, grounds, customer service, and horsemen relations. In this role he served as a key contributor to one of the sport's most important Kentucky Derby (gr. I) prep races, the Vinery Racing Spiral Stakes (gr. III), which has been hosted annually at Turfway for more than 40 years.

Bach earned his bachelor's degree in public and police administration from Eastern Kentucky University and began his professional career in the Information Technology sector overseeing loss prevention, security, and technical training at firms on the East Coast.
