Calder Announces 20% Purse Increase

The increase is applied evenly to all overnight races during the remaining five days of the Tropical Meet in Miami Gardens, Fl., which concludes Friday, Nov. 30.
In season-end stakes action, Calder hosts the $150,000 W.L. McKnight Handicap (gr. IIT) and the $100,000 Fred Hooper Handicap (gr. III) Nov. 24, and the $100,000 La Prevoyante Handicap (gr. IIIT) and $100,000 Tropical Turf Handicap (gr. IIIT) Nov. 30.
The 65-day Tropical Meet began Sept. 1, following the 85-day Calder Meet that ran from April 9 through Aug. 31. Opening Day for the 2013 Calder Meet is April 6.
