Mr. Sekiguchi, Canada's leading first-crop sire of 2011, will stand in 2013 at Joe McMahon's McMahon of Saratoga Thoroughbreds near Saratoga Springs, N.Y. His fee is $2,500 live foal. The 9-year-old son of Storm Cat formerly stood at Park Stud in Ontario, Canada.

Mr. Sekiguchi not only topped the first-crop list last year but also ranked third on the overall sires of 2-year-olds list. His runners included Rose and Shine, who won the Princess Elizabeth Stakes and the Muskoka Stakes, both at Woodbine. This year Mr. Sekiguchi ranks third on Canada's second-crop sires' list and is represented two stakes-placed runners.

Mr. Sekiguchi, who sold for $8 million as a yearling at Keeneland, was never worse than second in four starts and recorded Beyer Speed Figures of 101, 96, and 91. He is out of the graded stakes-winning Seeking the Gold mare Welcome Surprise, a half sister to prominent sires A.P. Indy and Summer Squall.
