Local stakes races of $30,000 will be conducted almost every week at the East Boston track, with 10 opportunities for Massachusetts-bred horses to race in state-funded restricted company.

New England's richest horserace, the MassCap, will be contested on the first Saturday in June. MassCap Day will also include the region's richest sprint, the $150,000 James B. Moseley Breeders' Cup Handicap, as well as two other stakes races.

The MassCap, for 3-year-olds and up, will be run at 1 1/8 miles. The Moseley is contested at six furlongs. The other MassCap Day stakes are the $30,000 Keith Brodkin Memorial Stakes for 3-year-olds and up at five furlongs on the turf, and the $30,000 Old Ironsides Stakes for 3-year-olds and up at a mile and 70 yards on the grass.
