After watching 2000 Preakness Stakes (gr. I) winner Red Bullet breeze four furlongs in :52 at Gulfstream Park on Wednesday, trainer Joe Orseno expressed confidence in the millionaire horse's chances in Saturday's $100,000 Skip Away Stakes (gr. III).
"It was more an open gallop than anything," Orseno said. "I have a lot of confidence in this horse and think he will win the Skip Away. That may sound cocky, but I know the talents of my horse and he's coming into the Skip Away right."
The Adena Springs Farm homebred finished third in the Cigar Mile (gr. I) in his final start of 2001. The horse made only three starts last year, with an allowance victory and a fifth-place effort in the Woodward Stakes (gr. I), following a one-year layoff.
