Game On Dude, a four-time grade I winner of nearly $3 million, was named the 125-pound highweight for the $400,000-added Clark Handicap Presented by Norton Healthcare (gr. I) to be run at Churchill Downs Nov. 23, but the likely highweight could be Shackleford.
Game On Dude, who most recently finished seventh as the 6-5 favorite in the Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I) at Santa Anita Park, was nominated but is not expected to run in the Clark, while trainer Dale Romans has said Shackleford will make his final career start in the Clark or the Nov. 24 Cigar Mile (gr. I) at Aqueduct Racetrack. Shackleford was assigned 120 pounds by racing secretary Ben Huffman.
Shackleford is scheduled to breeze at Churchill Nov. 17 following the renovation break, and a decision on his next start should be made following the workout.
The field for the Clark, limited to 14, will be drawn Nov. 20.
Brushed by a Star, winner of the Nov. 3 Chilukki (gr. II), was assigned the top weight of 122 pounds for the $150,000-added Falls City Handicap (gr. II), to be run Nov. 22, Thanksgiving Day. She won the Chilukki at Churchill by a head over the Larry Jones-trained Joyful Victory and then was sold to Volt Inc. at the Fasig-Tipton November sale. Now in the barn of trainer Eddie Kenneally, Brushed by a Star is scheduled to make her sixth start at the Louisville track in the Falls City.
Other fillies and mares believed to be pointing to the Falls City include Dale Romans trainee Afleeting Lady (119), Joyful Victory (119), Arena Elvira from the barn of Bill Mott (118), Maristar (114), and Aint She a Saint (113).
The field for the Falls City will be drawn Nov. 19.
