Jersey Town  , a grade I-winning miler by Speightstown  , will retire to stud at John Phillips' Darby Dan Farm near Lexington after making his final start in the Nov. 24 Cigar Mile Handicap (gr. I) at Aqueduct for breeder/owner Charles Fipke. The 6-year-old horse will stand for a fee of $10,000 stands and nurses. Jersey Town will participate in Darby Dan's popular "Share The Upside" program for breeders.

"Jersey Town is an extremely fast and high-class miler by one of the hottest stallions around in Speightstown," Phillips said. "It's pretty incredible how he's been able to maintain his soundness and form at the highest level of racing, which is a tribute to Chuck Fipke's program. We've been proud to stand grade I colts Perfect Soul   and Tale of Ekati   for Chuck, and we're excited about the opportunity to stand Jersey Town in 2013."

In the 2010 Cigar Mile (sponsored by Hill 'n' Dale), Jersey Town defeated Haynesfield  , Vineyard Haven  , Bribon, and Girolamo   while recording a 111 Beyer Speed Figure, which marked the co-second highest Beyer that year at a mile.

This year, Jersey Town captured the $400,000 Kelso Handicap (gr. II) at a mile over Shackleford  , To Honor and Serve  , and Tapizar  , earning a 110 Beyer--the second-highest Beyer at a mile this year. He owns a record of 6-8-3 from 21 starts and earnings of $819,668.

Jersey Town is out of three-time grade I winner  Jersey Girl, by Belong to Me.
