Greenwood Lake Filly Born Jan. 1 in Florida

Grade I winner Greenwood Lake and 5-year-old River Women opened the year with a filly born at Robert Slack's Stoneriggs Farm near Morriston, Fla. Bred by the farm, the bay filly is the first foal for both father and mother. River Women, by River Special, will be bred to Flame Thrower, who, like Greenwood Lake, stands at Stoneriggs.

Greenwood Lake (Meadowlake -- Au Printemps, by Dancing Champ) was one of the top 2-year-olds of 1999, winning the Champagne (gr. I) and Remsen (gr. II) Stakes. He entered stud with $430,620 in career earnings.
