Bob and John  , a grade I winner among the leading second-crop sires of 2012, will stand the coming breeding season at Highcliff Stallions at Mill Creek Farm near Stillwater, N.Y. The son of Seeking the Gold will continue to stand as a partnership between Magnolia Racing and Pin Oak Stud.

Bob and John is the sire of two stakes winners in 2012: Lady Candidate and Lady Jensen. He has 42 winners from his first two crops on the track and his progeny has earned nearly $1.5 million in 2012. He had 17 winners in his first crop in 2011, which ranked him tied for fifth among all first-crop sires by winners.

“We are very excited to add a stallion the caliber of Bob and John to our roster,” said resident veterinarian Dr. C. Lynwood O’Cain. “His sales horses were well received by horsemen from the start and he has sired stakes horses on multiple surfaces. We are very interested in having a successful sire of stakes winners from the sire family of Broad Brush and Capote at Highcliff Stallions.”

Bob and John is out of the graded stakes-winning Deputy Minister mare Minister’s Melody and is a half brother to stakes winner Connie Bell. His third dam, Too Bald, is the dam of top sires Baldski, Capote, Exceller, and American Standard. Hidden Talent, the dam of Too Bald, is the third dam of successful stallion Broad Brush.

On the track Bob and John put together a 5-3-3 slate from 14 starts and earned $996,330. At 2 he placed in the Hollywood Futurity (gr. I) and at 3 won the Wood Memorial Stakes (gr. I) and Sham Stakes (gr. III) while placing in the San Felipe Stakes (gr. II). As a 4-year-old, Bob and John won the Lone Star Park Handicap (gr. III) and ran second in the Texas Mile Stakes (gr. III).

“Being the winner of such a signature Derby prep as the Wood Memorial Stakes in New York, we feel Bob and John will be quickly recognized by New York breeders as a serious opportunity,” said Pin Oak Stud manager Clifford Barry. “Bob and John has sired several significant winners at Saratoga, Belmont, and Aqueduct as well as other top tracks across the country and his runners perform well on all surfaces.”

The 9-year-old Bob and John previously stood at Josephine Abercrombie's Pin Oak Stud near Versailles, Ky. His 2012 fee was $7,500.
