Frankel Tops List of Cartier Finalists

Expected to be honored for a second straight season as Europe's Horse of the Year, Frankel is one of five nominees in the Cartier Awards in that category.

Nominations for the Horse of the Year and seven other divisions were released Nov. 9 for the awards, which will be presented during a Nov. 13 ceremony at the Dorchester Hotel in London.

In the Horse of the Year category, undefeated Frankel is joined by fellow older horse nominees Cirrus des Aigles and Nathaniel. Frankel defeated those two rivals in the QIPCO Champion Stakes (Eng-I) Oct. 20 at Ascot where Cirrus des Aigles was second and Nathaniel third.

The other two finalists in the horse of the year category are top 3-year-old Camelot and top miler Excelebration.
