The industry's two racing television networks, TVG and HRTV, will both broadcast races from Betfair Hollywood Park live beginning Nov. 8 under a new agreement in California.
TVG, owned by Betfair, has traditionally been the only network to broadcast Hollywood Park racing. The network, which is on site at the Inglewood racetrack every day, said Nov. 6 it plans several promotions for the 24-day meet that runs through Dec. 16.
Racing will be held Thursdays through Sundays with 18 stakes worth more than $3.8 million. There will be 12 graded stakes, including four grade I events.
First post is set for 12:30 p.m. PST each day except for Thanksgiving, when racing will begin at 11 a.m.
The Turf Festival is again scheduled for Thanksgiving weekend. Two major stakes for 2-year-olds, the $750,000 Cash Call Futurity and the Hollywood Starlet (both gr. I), are scheduled for Dec. 15 and Dec. 8, respectively.
HRTV said its daily coverage will include full post parades and in-depth race analysis.
When Santa Anita Park begins its winter/spring meet after Christmas, TVG will carry the races live. Previously, only HRTV, which is affiliated with Santa Anita owner The Stronach Group, offered Santa Anita coverage.
