Phipps Stable's Boisterous knows how to give his connections some good feelings going into winter.
For the second year in a row, Boisterous registered back-to-back graded stakes wins on turf in the Knickerbocker Stakes (gr. IIIT) at Belmont Park and the Red Smith Handicap (gr. IIT) at Aqueduct Racetrack.
Sent off as the 3-10 favorite in this year's Red Smith, Boisterous easily proved up to the challenge, staying close early before opening a clear advantage in the stretch and cruising to a three-length victory in the 1 3/8-mile grass race (VIDEO).
A 5-year-old Distorted Humor horse, Boisterous completed the race in 2:19.38 on the yielding turf. He was followed home by runner-up Lake Drop, a group III winner in Italy who earned black-type in the U.S. for the first time, and Philly Ace in third.
