Jill Baffert's Contested resumed training the morning of Nov. 1 following a slight lung infection that prevented her from being entered in the in the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint (gr. I), for which she had been pre-entered.

Winner of the grade I Acorn and Test Stakes in New York, the 3-year-old daughter of Ghostzapper   became ill three weeks ago, forcing her to miss a week's training. When she was still coughing a little and showing signs of mucus on the morning of the entries, trainer Bob Baffert decided not to enter her.

"I felt she needed one more week," Baffert said. "She's fine now. She returned to the track this morning and just had a nice, easy jog."

Contested is scheduled to be sold at the Nov. 5 Fasig-Tipton November sale.

Bred by Cherry Valley Farm and sold at the Keeneland September yearling sale for $110,000, Contested has won five her seven career starts at four different tracks. In addition to her two grade I scores, she also captured the grade III Eight Belles Stakes at Churchill Downs.
