Pomeroy , a multiple grade I winner, will relocate to stand the 2013 breeding season at Vinery at Sugar Maple near Poughquag, N.Y. A fee will be announced later. Pomeroy formerly stood at Vinery Ltd.-Florida near Summerfield.
Eleven-year-old Pomeroy, who sired five stakes winners from his first crop, is represented by 11 stakes horses—five this year—and the earners of more than $4.4 million. His stakes winners include grade II winners Pomeroys Pistol and Flashpoint.
"Pomeroy is an attractive individual with an appealing pedigree, and he has proven that he can sire a good racehorse," said Vinery New York manager Dan Hayden.
Pomeroy (Boundary—Questress, by Seeking the Gold) raced from 2 to 5 and was a graded stakes horse every year he raced. He won or placed in 10 stakes, all graded, and has the distinction of winning Saratoga's major sprint races open to males: the King's Bishop Stakes (gr. I), the Forego Stakes (gr. I), and the Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap (gr. II).
