Sire Red Giant Represented by First Winner

Grade I winner and world record holder Red Giant   was represented by his first winner the evening of Oct. 25 when Snow Leopard nosed out a pair of rivals for the win in a $34,000 maiden special weight at Penn National Race Course going five furlongs on the dirt (VIDEO).

Owned by D A S L Stable and trained by Clovis Crane, Snow Leopard was making his first lifetime start. Out of Brazilian, by Stravinksy, he was bred in Kentucky by John Fort's Peachtree Stables, which also raced Red Giant. Snow Leopard was Red Giant's second foal, born Feb. 2, 2010.

Winnner of the 2008 Clement L. Hirsh Memorial Turf Championship (gr. IT), in which he set a world record for 1 1/4 miles in 1:57.16, Red Giant was a $350,000 yearling purchase in 2005 at the Keeneland September Sale. He amassed $1,092,410 in earnings while winning six of 12 career starts. Red Giant's other wins include the Virginia Derby (gr. IIT), in which he set a course record, the Fourstardave Handicap (gr. IIT), and the Restoration Stakes.

Red Giant, by Giant's Causeway  Beyond the Sun, by Kingmambo, stood for $6,000 at Three Chimneys in 2012.
