Repole's Overanalyze to Start in Iroquois
As owner Mike Repole sees it, the Breeders’ Cup’s loss is a gain for Churchill Downs. With Repole choosing not to start any horses in this year’s Breeders’ Cup World Championships on Nov. 2 and 3 at Santa Anita Park, the New York-based owner will ship talented juvenile Overanalyze to Churchill for the Iroquois Stakes (gr. III) Oct. 28. Repole said recently that he would not support this year’s Breeders’ Cup because it is not allowing 2-year-olds to race on Salix. With no such ban in place at Churchill, the Futurity Stakes (gr. II) winner Overanalyze lands in the $100,000 Iroquois. Along with the Pocahontas Stakes (gr. II) for fillies, the Iroquois is one of two feature races on Saturday’s Churchill card, which opens the 21-day fall meet. It is part of the "Stars of Tomorrow" card featuring 2-year-olds in all 11 races. The Iroquois, race 10, has a 5:02 p,m. EDT scheduled post. Trained by Todd Pletcher, Overanalyze posted a clear victory in his debut in August at Saratoga Race Course. After finishing fourth in the Three Chimneys Hopeful Stakes there Sept. 3, the Dixie Union colt bounced back with a 3 1/4-length win in the Futurity on Sept. 30 at Belmont Park for his first stakes victory He will break from post six and be ridden by two-time Iroquois winner Julien Leparoux. The 10-horse field also includes Arlington-Washington Futurity (gr. III) winner Pataky Kid and stakes winner Heaven's Runway. Swifty Farm's Pataky Kid was a three-length winner of the Arlington-Washington Futurity at Arlington Park. Trained by Tom Proctor, Pataky Kid finished fourth in the Dixiana Breeders' Futurity (gr. I) at Keeneland in his next start. He will break from post 3 and be ridden by Joel Rosario. Heaven's Runway took the Fitz Dixon Jr. Memorial at Presque Isle Downs in his most recent start. $100,000 Iroquois Stakes (gr. III, Race 10, approximate post time 5:02 p.m. EDT) 2YOs, 1 Mile
