Bullet Breeze for Nonios at Hollywood

On a light day for workouts by horses pointing to the Breeders' Cup World Championships at Santa Anita Park, Nonios turned some heads with a bullet five-furlong breeze at Betfair Hollywood Park Oct. 24.

Pre-entered in the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile (gr. I), with second preference in the Classic (gr. I), Nonios handily worked five furlongs in :59 4/5. The breeze was fastest of 39 at the distance.

Grade III winner Nonios delivered perhaps his best race performance to date when he finished second in the Awesome Again Stakes (gr. I) Sept. 29. That effort was his first career start at Santa Anita, where his sire, Pleasantly Perfect  , won the 2003 Breeders' Cup Classic. Green Smith Jr.'s Nonios is trained by Jerry Hollendorfer.
