Tickets for the 138th Preakness Stakes (gr. I) went on sale Oct. 15 and the Maryland Jockey Club announced a new vendor will be handling ticket sales for the May 18, 2013 event at Pimlico Race Course.
According to a release, MJC selected Ticketfly to replace Ticketmaster as the ticket sales and distribution company, noting that Ticketfly is "known for its innovative technology, including a socially-charged purchase experience that will help Preakness to more effectively reach and engage online audiences."
"Ticketfly is one of the best tech-savvy and forward-thinking young companies to expand our market reach and offer customers easy, efficient ways to purchase tickets and stay engaged with us online, while placing their needs first," MJC president Tom Chuckas said in a statement. "We are excited to join Ticketfly in their vision to offer Preakness fans the very best experience."
"We're thrilled to be teaming up with the Preakness Stakes," said Gannon Hall, Ticketfly's chief marketing officer. "As one of the most renowned and highly-attended sporting events in the country, with a sizable music festival component, we're excited to see how Preakness leverages our platform to broaden their reach and improve the live event experience for 2013."
Tickets went on sale at 10 a.m. (EDT) Oct. 15 and can be purchased by calling the Preakness ticket office (410-542-9400 or 877-206-8042) or by logging onto www.ticketfly.com.
