Cash Rules just holds in Spend a Buck
Cash Rules earned his first graded win, and third straight stakes victory, in this spot for trainer David Fawkes. The bay son of Peace Rules opened his career by taking his debut at Calder, but didn't factor when making his stakes bow in the Grade 3 Fred Hooper Handicap in December 2010. He wouldn't return to competition for 15 months, reportedly dealing with a slab fracture in his knee, and recorded his only other out-of-the-money run when returning to action with a fifth-placing in an optional claimer at Gulfstream Park on March 11 of this year. Since then Cash Rules has captured the Sumter Stakes, Band is Passing Stakes and Darn That Alarm Handicap while placing in the Memorial Day Handicap and Primal Stakes. The Spend a Buck win improved his line to 14-7-3-2 and he has now banked $274,641 lifetime. Bred in Florida by Fugate and Marshall & Suzanne Novak, Cash Rules is out of the stakes-placed Silver Buck mare Cindys Sonnet and comes from the same female family as Grade 2 victress Vacumette as well as Grade 3 scorers Thunder Regent and Distinct Reality. Farther back in his line are 1953 champion two-year-old filly Evening Out, and1940 Belmont Stakes runner-up Your Chance. Bet Horseracing Free Online at TwinSpires.com
