Doris Stewart, a popular figure at Hastings Racecourse in Vancouver, B.C., as a co-owner and ardent racing fan for several decades, died Oct. 9 at Mount St. Joseph Hospital following a brief illness.
Her late husband, John Stewart, was a longtime pari-mutuel clerk at Hastings. Her son Daryl, who survives her, is a veteran trainer. Mrs. Stewart’s other son, Monte, is a Vancouver-based sportswriter.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Oct. 25 at St. Thomas Anglican Church, 2444 East 41st Ave., in Vancouver.
