Baryshnikov  , a stakes winner and multiple grade II stakes-placed runner, has been retired from racing for stallion duty in 2013 at Oak Lodge USA near Paris, Ky.

The farm is owned by Alan, Claire, and Pat Fitzsimons. Six-year-old Baryshnikov will stand for $5,000 live foal.

Baryshnikov, by Empire Maker, put together a streak in which he won or placed in 10 straight events while trained by Mike Maker. He won five of those races including the Tejano Run Stakes, and ran second in both the Firecracker Handicap (gr. IIT) behind Wise Dan and the Dixie Stakes (gr. IIT) behind Paddy O'Prado  . During that streak, he also ran third in the Bernard Baruch Handicap (gr. IIT) behind Turallure and Get Stormy   and in the Oceanport (gr. IIIT) and Dust Commander stakes.

Baryshnikov was retired with a record of 7-8-7 from 40 starts and earnings of $350,778. He raced most of his career for Jeffrey A. Columbro and Connie Apostelos.

"Baryshnikov competed at the highest level," Alan Fitzsimons said. "He is exactly what commercial breeders are looking fora good looking, great walking son of leading sire Empire Maker who ticks all the boxes."

Bred by Kentucky by Summer Wind Farm, Baryshnikov is out of the multiple graded stakes-winning Baldski mare Ski Dancer, a half sister to multiple graded stakes winner and stakes producer Southern Tradition.
