First-crop sire War Cry, an 8-year-old half brother to successful stallion E Dubai  , was represented by his first winner Oct. 7 at Woodbine (VIDEO). The homebred 2-year-old filly Jean's a Lady won a $50,000 maiden special weight by a neck for trainer Steve Attard and owners John Curtis and Gino Panza.

Jean's a Lady was bred in Ontario out of the Smart Strike   mare Astute Lady. She was making her second start off a third-place finish first time out, and bested 11 other juvenile fillies going seven furlongs.

War Cry stands at John Carey's T.C. Westmeath Stud Farm near Shelburne, Ontario, Canada for a 2012 fee of $2,000 (Canadian funds). A son of Unbridled and a $2.7 million Saratoga sale yearling, War Cry is also a half brother to grade I winner No Matter What, dam of European champion Rainbow View and graded stakes winners Just as Well and Winter View. His stakes-winning dam, Words of War (by Lord At War), is a full sister to the dam of Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I) winner and English champion Raven's Pass.
