Keeneland to Salute Sprinter Tyson Gay

Tyson Gay, a triple world champion sprinter and second-fastest man in history, will be saluted by Keeneland Sunday, Oct. 14.

A Lexington native, Gay will attend the races and be involved in several events that day.

An American record holder, Gay earned a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympic games as part of the of the 4 x100m relay team. 

"This is an opportunity for Keeneland fans to pay tribute to Tyson," said Keeneland president and CEO Bill Thomason. "He is such a terrific example of how to compete at the highest level and do it with the upmost sportsmanship. He is a wonderful role model and this is a chance to say thank you to him for all he has accomplished."

Gay's schedule at Keeneland Oct. 14 includes:
Noon: National Anthem sung by Marlana Van Hoose, a Kentucky Special Olympics athlete. 

12:05 p.m.: Question and answer session in the paddock, moderated by Tom Leach.

12:30 p.m.-1:30 p.m.: Autograph signing adjacent to the gift shop. Gay will autograph photos provided by Keeneland only.

Approximately 4:17 p.m.: Trophy presentation following seventh race.
