Stakes Winner Encaustic to Foggy Bottom in NY

Encaustic, a full brother to successful sire Include  , will stand in 2013 at Beverly Least's Foggy Bottom Farm near Geneseo, N.Y. The 8-year-old son of Broad Brush will stand for $2,000 live foal.

Encaustic's dam, Illeria (by Stop the Music), produced 13 foals, all of which started. Nine are stakes performers including Include, a grade I winner, and grade III winner Magic Broad (by Broad Brush).

In his five-year racing career, Encaustic started 46 times, carving out a record of 12-11-6 and earning $645,330.

He won the Mountaineer Mile Handicap, Labor Day Stakes at Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack & Resort, Golden Bear Stakes at Indiana Downs, Joseph French Memorial Stakes at Delaware Park, and Native Dancer Stakes at Laurel. He currently holds a track record of 1:42.13 for about 1 1/16 miles at Laurel Park. Encaustic placed in nine stakes including the Texas Mile Stakes (gr. III) at Lone Star Park.

"We are so lucky to have Encaustic coming to New York and Foggy Bottom Farm," Least said. "He not only was a strong and sound race horse, but his sire and dam line are what we all look for when breeding. He gives consistency and quality, not only with Broad Brush on the sire line, but a very impressive dam line with full brothers and sisters with impressive success to "include" his full brother Include. It is important to also note how well balanced and correct his conformation is. He is a very nice horse on all levels."

Encaustic is a registered New York Stallion making him and his progeny eligible for awards from the New York Breeding and Racing Fund.
