New Approach Filly Brings $1,000,600 at Goffs

A daughter of New Approach topped the opening session of the Goffs Orby yearling sale, bringing €775,000 ($1,000,600 in U.S. funds) Oct. 3 in Ireland. Peter & Ross Doyle Bloodstock purchased the bay filly from trainer Jim Bolger's Redmondstown Stud.

, who won the Sept. 15 Goffs Vincent O'Brien National Stakes (Ire-I). Dawn Approach's other 2012 efforts include victories in the Coventry (Eng-II) and Alfred Nobel Rochestown stakes.
The results for the opening session included a gross of €13,553,500 ($17,500,000) for the 152 yearlings that were sold. The average price was €89,168 ($115,132) and the median price was €55,000 ($71,015). Compared to last year, when 175 horses were sold, the gross rose 26.8%. The average and median increased 46% and 31%, respectively.
The clearance rate rose to 84.4% from 83.7% in 2011.
