Coolmore Stud is working on a deal that calls for first-crop stallion Victory Speech to stand the 2002 breeding season at East Stud in Japan. The 8-year-old millionaire son of Deputy Minister originally was scheduled to stand at Coolmore's North America satellite, Ashford Stud, near Versailles, Ky., where he covered 56 mares earlier this year. Victory Speech stood the recent Southern Hemisphere season at Haras La Quebrada in Argentina.
Victory Speech, who was produced from the Alydar mare Ida's Image, scored his major win in the 1997 Strub Stakes (gr. I) and also captured three other graded stakes. He ranks 32th on the freshman sire list.
