Hollywood Oaks (gr. II) winner Potesta is bearing weight on her left front leg and trainer Mike Mitchell said he is "very pleased" with the way she continues to recover from a career-ending condylar fracture sustained in a morning workout Sept. 14 at Betfair Hollywood Park.

"Walking well and able to put pressure on the leg," was how Mitchell described the 3-year-old filly's progress via Twitter Sept. 27.

Potesta underwent surgery at Alamo Pintado Equine Medical Center in California to stabilize the injury, which occured high above the ankle in a six-furlong breeze under exercise rider Adalberto Lopez. The daughter of Macho Uno   was preparing for a start in the Sept. 29 Zenyatta Stakes (gr. I) at Santa Anita Park.

Winner of three of four career starts, Potesta raced for Anthony Fanticola and Joseph Scardino. Following her Hollywood Oaks win, she captured the Sept. 2 Torrey Pines Stakes in track-record fashion at Del Mar, going a mile on Polytrack in 1:34.86.

Potesta was bred in Kentucky by Maynard Farm and B. A. Man, Inc. She is out of the Furiously mare Katzen, and was a $75,000 purchase from the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky fall yearling sale in 2010.
