California Stallion Cindago Dies

Cindago, a young California stallion who cost $900,000 as an auction 2-year-old, died Sept. 24 because of complications from a seizure. The 9-year-old son of Indian Charlie stood at Pete and Evelyn Parrella's Legacy Ranch near Clements, Calif.

Cindago was bought for $900,000 at the 2005 Barretts March sale of 2-year-olds in training by trainer John Sadler, agent, from H.T. Stables, agent. The price was the third-highest at the sale.

Trained by Sadler for Lee and Susan Searing's C R K Stable, Cindago raced three times. He won two races including the 2006 El Cajon Stakes at Del Mar at 3 in his last start and was retired with $98,180 in earnings.

Cindago's runners include Courtside, winner of last year's Donald Valpredo California Cup Sprint Stakes, and 2012 stakes-placed 2-year-old Monument.

Bred in Kentucky by Fred Caudill and a half brother to stakes winner Mister Fanucci, Cindago is out of the winning Turkoman mare Tupelo Belle, whose dam, Pongee, is a half sister to Canadian champion Silken Cat, dam of champion and prominent stallion Speightstown  .

His 2012 fee was $2,500.
